NW: How would you describe the convention to someone who’s never been?
Michael: It is a great event for networking within our Local, and learning from fellow members and leaders.
NW: What was your favorite thing about the last convention you attended?
Michael: I definitely enjoyed the training workshops on issues like racial justice in the workplace, and we had excellent speakers including Tom Steyer, who talked about his work on climate change.
NW: Why did you want to become a delegate for this Convention?
Michael: It is an important time for us, given the challenges we are facing from corporate attempts to take away our bargaining power. I wanted to attend the convention as a delegate because delegates have a voting voice that determines where we will go and how our Local will change over the next few years.
NW: Any advice for members attending this year?
Michael: Enjoy the evening socializing in moderation so you can be fresh the next morning for the great speakers and workshops!
